Drop one or many files and see everything hidden inside them — metadata, EXIF, GPS location, author, device, even hidden data. Then decide what stays and download clean files. Nothing leaves your device.

What Metascope does
Metascope is a free tool for inspecting and removing metadata that runs entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to a server — not to inspect them, not to clean them. It works offline too.
What it finds
- EXIF data — device make and model, capture settings, serial numbers
- GPS location — the exact coordinates where the file was captured
- Author and software — author name, editing software, copyright
- Dates — creation, modification, capture
- Hidden data — embedded thumbnails, XMP, IPTC, comments, traces of edits
Supported formats
Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, SVG, TIFF, HEIC. Documents: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX. Video and audio: MP4, MOV, MP3. Fifteen formats in total, each with cleaning and post-clean verification.
Why in the browser
Most online metadata removers upload your file to someone else's server before cleaning it — meaning the photo with your GPS coordinates has already left your device. Metascope processes everything locally. Verifying that is trivial: turn off your internet and the app keeps working.
